I think some men have very twisted notions about losing one's virginity at a young age. Basically, the younger it happens, the more impressive, regardless of the circumstances.

Some men may even believe that it must be a great thing to be raped by a woman. What kind of "stud" must a man be, if women literally force themselves upon him?

Needless to say, these ideas are incredibly moronic.

I'm reminded of that South Park episode when the Kindergarten teacher rapes Ike, and half the grown ups, on finding out she's hot, always say "nice", like he bagged her and it's awesome.

That's it exactly.

I would imagine that the people who have these views are VERY unlikely to have ever been victims of sexual violence themselves.

Sadly, not always true. Witness Wayne Anthony Ross, who was abused by both a man AND a woman:

(warning: parts of that letter may be triggering.)

edited because I put the wrong name it. WOO! Lots of brain farts today!

Also, trying to find out where I heard he was abused. I know it read it somewhere but can't find the source.

(Sorry. Just me trying to be through and making sure I'm getting my facts straight.)

Fact remains though, not everyone who is abused remains sympathetic, sadly.

Maybe that's just a kind of psychological defense mechanism? If they can convince themselves that the experience wasn't that bad, then they won't have to deal with it?

Half the audience seems to act like it's a great thing. Though I am wondering if they are squirming and feeling uncomfortable in the back of their minds, or if they just haven't twigged how ugly the situation is.

I'd hope that a lot of it is nervous laughter.

I imagine that if Lil' Wayne had reacted with horror to the question and been more up-front about how traumatic the experience was for him, the audience would have been deathly silent.

Mind you, if they're the kind of people who go to see that kind of show, they probably think it's a hoot.

Ah Jimmy Kimmel. He's been on my shitlist ever since that crappy "Man Show" with the juggies on trampolines.

Admittedly (though not in this case) often when I hear "men can be raped by women!" my heart turns to ice and I become defensive. I really need to re-train my brain. "I was abused/raped by a woman" is not the same as an MRA troll on a forum trying to make a twisted point, and I need to remember that.

The misandrist crowd crying "women can be violent too" when trying to derail conversations about violence against women piss me off, too. But there's a world of difference between arseholes trying to derail and the actuality of rape against men. I'm trying to retrain my brain a little, and usually I think the best thing to do is just ignore the wankers.

Good idea.

The misandrist crowd .

I'm assuming you mean misogynist? Unless I've missed something and I'm having a brain fart.

Sorry, I mean the crowd who like to cry 'misandrist', as if Feminism is by definition misandrist.
