The trouble is, my bum's numb.

Happy Birthday Jenny!

Today I have given up against the flu and working from home. In bed. It's not so bad. I have Buffy season 3 to keep me company and a nice supply of juice.

Of course, Earshot has completely Jossed me and a whole lot of the MilliFrays. What kind of weirdo verse is it in which vampires are immune to telepathy? Blegh. Mind, this line really nicely struck a good chord with me today: Every single person down there is ignoring your pain because they're too busy with their own.

This weekend I both won and lost the internet. The people who say I won matter more to me, but because I'm me, the people who paint me as a malicious uncaring so-and-so are the ones that keep me up at night.  Or they would, if I wasn't half asleep from headfog already. So it's nice to have that reminder from the Buffster that I can't take care of everyone and it's unreasonable for anyone to expect me to do so.

Thanks to everyone who posted in squidses. I've given Weaves the address now, but that doesn't mean we're not still accepting squid pics. Go there now, everyone! Squid!

Ah, but is canonmeld! Different type of telepathy, maybe?

>_>

Or something! With the... SOMETHING.

It's just stupid.

I thought it was annoying and stupid too, especially since they don't seem to be immune to Drusilla's clairvoyance. Which admittedly you could argue is a different power since it's the universe or the pixies or whatever talks to Dru, telling her what's in people's heads, but...

There's seriously no logical reason for it in the mythology, other than Joss Thought It Would Be Cool - for that one episode, to make one thematic point in the Buffy/Angel relationship - and then it never came up again.

I dunno: I've been trying to think of an example where Dru actually uses her abilities on a vampire. But I've only been thinking since this morning when I noticed that.

When specifically does she use it on one?

(and the excuse given is lamearse too)

I'm not sure she ever uses the hypnosis/mesmerism thing on another vampire. She does seem to know what's going on with them, though - it's hard to say if it's telepathy or what, or sometimes just insight.

She can tell the Annointed One has power in School Hard, and that he doesn't trust Spike. She can tell that Angel remembers the song her mother used to sing to her in Lie To Me, and seems to be able to read his feelings for Buffy. She knows Angelus doesn't want to kill Buffy, he wants to hurt her, in Innocence, she knows in the retcon-from-hell from Fool For Love that all Spike thinks about when they're in Brazil is the Slayer.

It's hard to tell what might be Dru picking up anything from inside another vampire's head vs. knowing her family well vs. Wacky Clairvoyant Knowledge.

Thank you! Your knowledgeis superior to mind.

Stupid throwaway line.

Perhaps I will go watch this episode again. I always remember the overall plot of it and forget the details.

I contemplated for a while deleting this comment.

Then I realised I don't give a flying fuck what people think of you, or of me for being so hopelessly enamoured of you.
