has posted some preview images
and details from an interview
with the artist for Buffy #16
-19. Yes, it's the artist people wanted it to be. There's also more here on MySpazz
YAY for mirroring the opening lines of Big City Girl
. Also, though I love Moline's art more than pigs, I would have liked to see some more people's take on Mel - although given that Chen got her tattoo wrong, I guess I shouldn't complain.
I do wish the continuation of Mel's story wouldn't be in a Buffy
story though- I've never liked Buffy
crossovers in fanfic, because I like Mel being the Slayer, and not just another character in the bigger Story of Buffy, and Moline saying that the story is about the Scoobies - I want a Mel story!
As for the lack of mention of Harth in the interview - also a sort of good thing. I like Harth, but when he keeps cropping up in Fray fanfic, it makes Mel look like a one-trick-pony:
Melaka Fray is interesting
, most fanfic says,
because of her brother
. Not, as you well know, my take. Mel Fray is interesting, say I, because she approaches her life and Slaying with a firm hand and a wry smile, and in a way unique to here: not Faith, not Nikki, and most definitely not in anyway, is she Buffy.
So that should be good.
OTOH, I've been writing Mel Fray in a number of ways for - three years
now, so I'm sure I'm not just going to be Jossed, but I'm going to on many an occasion go
...but Mel wouldn't do that
, because I've been writing her with no fresh canon for longer than her original canon actually lasted. So naturally I'm apprehensive. I do think I'd like to run with this in Milliways though - it might give me motivation to actually play, you never know. Naturally, I think, this will involve trying to get some of what I've done with her retconned.
I love the fact, though, that weaverandom
and I can at least go through this together. *eyes Robin
