I maded a SCARF. With MITTEN BITS at the ends. I am a proper knitter and everything!
The pattern in question is Entwined
, from Knitty
, knitted all in garter stitch (which means all knit, no purl, and thus perfect for someone at my non-existent skill level.
I mean, yes, there are one or two holes in it, but it's for my personal use and my clothes tend to aquire holes anyway, so it's not much of a problem for me.
Anyway, it was SO MUCH FUN to knit! It's knitted sideways, so started with casting on 225 stitches, but all bunched up on Bing's circular needle it was like having my hands hugged as I knitted. I was quite disappointed when I dropped down to the mittens and had near-empty needles. It did teach me that I might need to invest in a circular needle set if I want to do anything bigger than a straight needle in future. But there are present-getting events coming up, so you never know.
Now, of course, there's the problem of what next. I think it's about time I started making things for the Innersister's offspring, but I'm terrified anything I make will not be good enough. Which is more about my sister-related anxiety than anything else, I think.
Oh well, I made a thing and I can be proud of it.
