Being Human: BBC Three
9th-Mar-2009 12:11 am
In a spectacular display of just in the nick of timeness, Kate and I spent the evening watching the last five of the six hour run of Being Human, before it disappeared off the iPLayer - only just before in fact. When we were selecting the season finale, the first half of the season had already disappeared from the programme list.

This show is so worth all the hype.

And probably more than the hype, because while everyone who's seen it and knows me even a little has been telling me I should watch it, it seems that most of my fannish friends are all a flutter about some blue penis that [spoiler redacted]. Goes to show where their priorities are.

If you like vampires, you'll like this show. If you like werewolves, you'll like this show. If you like twenty-something Brits living in a houseshare while they try and figure out their lives, you'll like this show.

If you like humour and drama in equal realistic measures, full blooded three dimensional, flawed and utterly sympathetic protagonists, platonic bromance that you can make slashy if you push it, women who stand up for themselves against abusers and mere tossers alike, fantasy as a working metaphor for Real Life™ and believable special effects on a BBC budget, then you will love this show. At least, I did.

I'm just sad that we've now watched all there is to watch. Season two, please!

....Oooh. That sounds all kinds of awesome.

Aye, it is indeed kinda awesome (if you can make it through the very occasional bits where you have to hide in a Dr Who-esque way to keep from catching explosive embarrassment), and Season 2 is far too far away (no idea how long it'll be - still too far off :D ). Also, the last two eps? Actually contain several times the RDA of Vitamin Awesome - I'm still getting flashbacks ;)

I'm so glad you love it. Isn't it just the most incredible thing ever? I can't wait for the DVD release.

Ooh, really? I got put off watching it because the adverts annoyed me so much. If it's really good though, I might have to rethink my stance on it.

Yay! I knew you'd like it.

But I haven't watched the last episode and it is already off iPlayer??? Noooooo! That is such a pain.

I think the last episode may be on, but for some reason when we watched it, it was signed.

It had completely gone from iPlayer but I was sneaky and found it somewhere else - and it was awesome. Roll on season 2.

Dunno; I'm waiting to hear from her.

Fine with me! (Can you tell I was too lazy to type "under the Diplodocus" using predictive text?)

Also, it's not a Brontosaurus.

I have three tickets to the DC Tour at 4.00

Yes. Westminster's not far and it's not a very long tour. I didn't know what time your Darwin tickets were for, so I went later.

As always, I've missed the whole thing. :(

It does sound like my cup of tea though. I'll definitely have to catch up with when it comes out on DVD.
