You have got to be kidding me.

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

Not only is Wednesday my second day at my new job, but I'm going to Leeds on Thursday. By coach. From Victoria coach station. A journey which under the best circumstances would take me an hour on the Piccadilly and Victoria lines.

TfL are now telling me that I'll have to take three buses and an overground, for an optimistic total journey time of two and a half hours. For a four hour coach journey.

And yes, I checked. A taxi would be £35.

Starts singing the "London Undergrooound" song so lovingly depicted in your icon.

Oh, ick.

For the Leeds trip, could you take one of the main train lines to get into London, like First Capital Connect to Moorgate or King's Cross, and then figure out a bus or taxi from there? (Optimistic, I know, but better than three bus changes?)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, insert a taxi into part of that trip somewhere, at significantly less cost? It might help...

Sorry it'll be so rough but I'm hoping we get to see you when you're Oop North, it's been a long time!

No part about taking a taxi in London is 'less cost'.

So true.

Not really. There isn't an overground station conveniently close to this place.

We won't even have that. They'll put it on when there's engineering works and they have to close the whole line for most of the day, but otherwise they'll not bother. And they won't do anything to mitigate against the effects of strike action.

My brother is in Leeds! FIND HIM, MAKE HIM BORROW A DRUNKEN LEEDS STUDENT'S CAR AND DRIVE YOU HOME. Actually this could be something I could ask him, if you like. ... are we talking, like, a long way? How do you get from Leeds to London? England is, like, the size of my backyard, right? I'm not sure the Aussie giving-a-lift ethos extends more than an hour or two out of one's way. Hmm.

This has been your totally-helpful Weaves-is-on-the-stupid-cold-rattly-bus-home-and-hates-public-transport-in-all-its-forms comment.
