I''m back! And exhausted beyond all capability of writing a coherent post. I'm going to finish reading my friendslist (which might take hours) and fall into bed, I think.
I spent the weekend at the Fantastic Films Weekend at the National Media Museum in Bradford, and it was amazing. Highlights included: Aliens in 70mm, Star Trek on IMAX, The Woman in Black, two Ghost Story for Christmas adaptations of MR James' short stories, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which was much scarier than I expected and absolutely amazing.
Low lights included Candyman, which I haven't seen in fifteen years and I forgot it was so racially dodgy (especially as it started out with so much promise) and a new UK low budget offering called the Scar Crow, which looked good and did great thing with the budget, but failed to hide the fact that the plot and script were horrible and misogynist in the worst of 1970s horror.
And of course there was the whole point of the weekend, spending time with old friends I don't see nearly enough, and making one or two new ones.
I needed that weekend.
