I know there are a few people who read this who are UK based and keen artists/photographers. So my question is this:

Do you belong to any photography organisations/clubs?
If you enter competitions a lot; where do you hear about them?

I am trying to promote a nature based photography competition and would like to reach as many channels as possible. Anything from magazines to LJ communities welcome in terms of ideas.

I don't belong to any but would love to hear more about this.:)

Neat! Wish I still lived in Belize as I'd have more to work with, but I'm sure I can stalk some critter in my neighbourhood.

I am a very keen photographer, but I am not a member of any organisation or club - sorry!

I am sure there would be something you could do via Flickr - set up a flickr group, perhaps, or asked them to post something on the flickr blog, perhaps?

Offline actions might include letters/articles in photo magazines - Amateur Photographer, What Camera? and so on - there used to be loads of these.

I think there is also BBC Wildlife magazine who (used to) do lots of photo-based nature stories.

Let us know what you decide!

Geographical Magazine is keen on the nature photos.

DSLR User Magazine has a well-frequented forum that you could try!

Like rhythmaning however, much as I enjoy photography, I'm not a member of a club either.

While I am a keen photographer, I tend not to enter competitions and I'm not a member of a club. Pretty much all photography magazines do run competions but usually their own or in connection with organisations. It might well be an idea to contact them and propose one? Have a look through the selection at any supermarket/newsagent and copy out the contact info/websites.
